The story so far
People’s Choice and Heritage Bank merged in March 2023 to create one of Australia’s largest customer-owned banks – People First Bank.
Our name says it all – we’re a bank for people like you. Our priority is putting you, our communities, and the planet first - just as we always have.
We’re on an exciting journey to bring together our products, services and technology under one brand. This will take some time – but we assure you it’s worth the wait.
What happens next?
For now, Heritage Bank and People’s Choice continue to operate as usual.
There’s nothing our existing customers need to do, as there’s no immediate impact to their banking yet.
We’re taking a phased approach to introducing the People First Bank brand so that our customers can experience a smooth transition, like the gradual rebranding of our branches and community initiatives.
While our name is changing, our commitment to you is here to stay.
Meet our new-look branches
We're continuing to deliver the same great People's Choice and Heritage Bank services, just with a fresh new look.
We’re gradually rebranding our national network of branches to People First Bank, starting with our People’s Choice branches in 2025, closely followed by our Heritage Bank branches.
Don’t worry, our customers will be the first to know of any changes to their local branch.
Although these branches will look a little different, you'll still find the same Heritage Bank or People’s Choice products and services until we officially make the switch to People First Bank.

Originally known as the Heritage Bank Photographic Awards, the newly named People First Bank Photographic Awards are open to professional and amateur photographers.
With no cost to enter, this competition encourages photographers all over Australia to explore their surroundings and capture their own little piece of history. With a massive prize pool of over $50,000 across a range of categories and awards, the People First Bank Photographic Awards is one of the most lucrative in the country.

Adelaide Strikers
At People First Bank, we're stepping up to the crease for another exciting year of partnership with the Adelaide Strikers.
This relationship began with People's Choice, who have been a proud major partner of the Adelaide Strikers BBL and WBBL teams since 2017 and People First Bank is proud to continue on, with 2024 marking our 7th year of partnering with the team. We are also the inaugural SACA Membership Partner – a perfect alignment of two Member-centric organisations.
People First Bank Foundation
As a key milestone in the successful merger between Heritage Bank and People’s Choice Credit Union, we are very excited to announce that we have rebranded the Foundation to align with the new name of the Bank. Our focus and philosophy of support has not changed. We are still passionate about supporting high quality programs that create long lasting positive impacts by reaching people in need in the communities we serve.
The future is bright. Just like the Bank, the merger allows us to have a more national presence. This already can be seen in the selection of our 2024 charity partners, where we have supported programs right across the People First Bank footprint.

People First Community Lottery
Originally known as the People's Choice Community Lottery, the People First Community Lottery gives local sporting clubs, schools, charities, volunteer groups and other not-for-profit community groups the opportunity to raise funds and achieve fundraising goals.
Since its inception in 1984, the Community Lottery has helped to raise more than $22 million for community groups . People First Bank will continue this legacy.
People First Bank, along with our proud business and media partners facilitate the lottery administration, advertising, prizes and tickets, so that the community groups participating can pocket 100% of every $2 ticket sold. We are proud to share that this year our charity partner is Starlight Children’s Foundation.
